God has been faithful! Through the generous support through the years of many of our donors we have finally completed the construction of the Freda Lindsay World Missions Center! The ribbon-cutting and dedication of the building on April 20th was a wonderful celebration honoring those who so diligently worked to bring the building to its present beautiful state.
This joyous occasion was also a celebration of the 93 years the Lord has faithfully sustained Mrs. Freda Lindsay. Congratulations and birthday greetings by video were sent from numerous prominent Christian leaders. In honor of ‘Mom’ Lindsay, her son Dennis unveiled a life-size bronze statue showing Mrs. Lindsay holding her Bible and pointing to the world map alongside.
GROUNDREAKING
On graduation day in May 1995, Co-founder and CEO Emeritus Mrs. Freda Lindsay, former CFN board member Guy Branham and President Dennis Lindsay
ceremoniously broke ground for the envisioned Freda Lindsay World Missions Center. This wonderful occasion, shared
by the graduating class, special guests and students, marked the beginning of a twelve-year marathon construction project.
WAITING SEASON
The concrete foundation and the basement structure were the first pieces
of evidence that an extensive vision was unfolding. For many years this concrete mass spoke silently of the hope for the fulfillment of the vision. From her bedroom window across the street
Mrs. Lindsay would quietly pray asking for the provision of the Lord so she could see the steel frame arise
from the cold concrete floor that stood untouched for many months.
ADDED BLESSINGS
These quiet seasons of inactivity on the construction site were contrasted with the wonderful opportunities that God brought to CFNI for growth and expansion on the Dallas campus and the purchase of a building to accommodate a Bible school in Minsk, Belarus. The U.S. government’s
HUD agency offered the Courts of Praise apartment complex to CFN for $10.00!
It was an offer we could not refuse. Along with the acquisition of these 152 apartments and 11.85 acres of land, came the responsibility to upgrade many of the apartments, which had been ransacked and almost destroyed by the former tenants. This upgrading project required all our
financial resources, and for a number of years much of our fundraising efforts were directed to this cause.
CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES...
Once the Courts of Praise project was completed, the Lord enabled us to begin taking small steps in the continued construction of
the Freda Lindsay World Missions Center. Terry Beatty, a CFNI graduate and former
CFN maintenance director, has faithfully served as the general contractor for the entire project
and helped direct each of the various phases of the construction. In 2004, the Lord added architects Palemon Camu and Flori Trejo to the team. Palemon had formally served as the founder and director of the Spanish institute. After passing the baton of the Spanish school to Hugo Martinez, he continued giving much of his time to provide oversight to the architectural design and construction of the inside of the building.
COLORS, TEXTURES, AND A MURAL
Implementing the creativity and
outstanding artistic skills of Carlos Cazares, also a CFNI graduate and professional artist,
they added the vibrant textures and colors to the interior of the building, resulting in a first-class,
functional facility emanating a welcoming warmth and elegance.
The two-tiered 26 x 19 ft. creation mural, painted by Carlos and mounted in the main entrance of the facility,
is a remarkable artistic expression of God’s handiwork of bringing light and life to darkness as He formed the foundation of the world, all the while determining the ultimate redeeming sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
A WORLD VISION UNFOLDS
April 20, 2007, marks the long-awaited dedication of the Freda Lindsay World Missions Center, bringing to
completion the institute elements of the building. The Spanish school,
School of Missions and School of Youth Ministry, together with Youth For The Nations
and Spanish YFN will make their homes in the new classrooms and office space. The center
will also house the 24-hour prayer room which will be dedicated to the legacy of a man of prayer, CFN’s founder, Gordon Lindsay.
GOD’S MISSIONS HEART IN CREATION
The remaining portion of the building will
be occupied by the new Museum of Earth History, housing a fascinating display of dinosaurs and other fossils, as part of an outstanding exhibit portraying the six days of creation, the ice age and the tower of Babel.
The progressive exhibit culminates with the declaration of God’s heart for the peoples of the earth as His global missions
purpose unfolds in Genesis chapters one through twelve. The mural stands as a constant reminder of the heart of the Gospel proclaimed to all nations - the Redeemer, slain from the foundation of the world! (Rev. 13: 8).
